The Library of Thorvald Boeck - James Billingham
This piece is based on a wonderful painting by Harriet
Backer. The subject is a portion of the grand library owned by the
prolific book collector Thorvald Boeck. I enjoyed the naturalist style of
the painting and attempted to capture the grandeur of Boeck's library and
contrast this with the intimate setting of this portion. The warmth of
the room and smell of the books entice the listener to find a cosy corner and a
good book of their own.
The piece is aimed at around 4 level due to the key (4
sharps) and some tricky finger passages.
