A whole generation ago, the terms “injury prevention” and “young
athlete” weren’t two that you would normally associate with
each other. Back then, kids played a variety of sports, both
competitively and recreationally, and simply weren’t as prone to the types
of overuse injuries that result from repeated wear and tear on specific body
parts. Sadly, the recent trend towards early specialization has changed
all of that; ushering in a new era where keeping young athletes’ bodies
from physically breaking down has become a top priority. So much so
