After several requests, here it is! The extended version of my NS Chicago line route to downtown Chicago, IL The addition of 24 miles into Chicago adds a lot more operational challenges with Amtrak, two more draw bridges, four more yards, and a lot more. Metra moves through CP 518 for their Southwest Service, which includes about 30 trains M-F. The route also includes the very busy line east all the way towards Cleveland, OH. Including Elkhart Terminal and Toledo Terminal, where all trains swap crews in Toledo and all intermodals bypass the crew change at Elkhart. MOW is out there doing more work, so watch out for single-tracking this busy double-track mainline.
