This route covers the famous Norfolk Southern Chicago line. Based on 2023 the route still sees over 100 trains a day on the double track from Chicago to points east. The NS Chicago line is an ex Conrail territory, and when Conrail was lit up, Norfolk Southern got this line becoming one of if not the busiest routes that Noroflk Southern has.
